Patient Guide
Prior to Surgery
Lab work or other diagnostic tests may be done prior to surgery based on age, health history, and type of surgery. Discuss with your doctor if you will need pre-surgery lab work or other diagnostic testing. Having this done ahead of time prevents cancellations on the day of surgery.
If your doctor has ordered an EKG or x-ray, these must be completed at least 48 hours prior to surgery in order to avoid delays.
Ask your doctor about taking any medications before surgery, including aspirin and ibuprofen. If you are told to take medicines the morning of surgery, take them with small sips of water.
